Snowflake Challenge #7: Wishlist

Challenge #7: In your own space, create a list of at least three things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a wishlist of sorts.

Okay but when the challenge post said "I know that for some people asking for things is hard." I felt that. Hi, that's me, I loathe asking for shit because the terror invades me. But I said that I'd complete the Snowflake Challenge this year... So here I go I guess. Four wishes, above the bare minimum!

I'll first start with wishes that are obviously not gonna be granted:

1. More Pavitr, MARVEL, please and thank you.

2. IDK, I guess I'd like for people to... comment on my fics? Like, genuinely, not for obligation. I have done my fair number of comment exchanges and man... It's sometimes so hard to feel them genuine, so I just don't do comment exchanges anymore. (And thus I get 0 comments on average, LOL.)

Okay, and now the wishes that will be likely granted:

3. Casefic recs! Sometimes people don't tag their fics as "casefics" and thus I miss them when I check the tag out. So if anyone has casefic recs, I'd love them! (I can read fandom blind so no worries; for romance and/or sex, I highly prefer cis M/M but if not romance happens in the fic then whatever, it doesn't matter.)

4. Indie music recs! A band/singer that's not really popular/is starting? Gimme gimme gimme! I'm very versatile in music taste so anything goes (from pop through electro swing to bollywood --no Taylor Swift tho, thank you). Oh, I'd also like instrumental albums/OSTs!

Okay I'm going to recommend a casefic to you, I don't know if this will work fandom blind, but if you have ever read or watched Sherlock Holmes then it might.

It's Particular Peculiarity by saavik13, M, 43k, Holmes/Watson, The first half of the fic is casefic with pretty high stakes because a man is blackmailing or threatening to blackmail gay men in Victorian England, one of those men being Holmes himself. The second half of the fic is after the case is resolved and Holmes and Watson are trying to figure out their feelings for each other.

I like Pentatonix. There aren't a lot of folks doing really good polyphonic stuff nowadays. (Technically I don't know if they're considered indie but they don't seem mainstream.)

I can do a little self-reccing here, I suppose. I think both of And the Cartomantic Caper and And the Puppet of the Puerto Rican Job are both Librarians casefic and they intersect with other parts of the Dean Devlin Expanded Universe. (Assuming I'm remembering correctly what the definition of casefic is.)

As for indie music recs, there's the community onesongaday which often has all kinds of bangers on the regular. Some of the other groups that might still be indie and not all that well known are Tally Hall (their best known album is Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum), the West Philadelphia Orchestra (brass band with Slavic sound), and TC and the Roadmasters (blues band). I'll bet that they're on most sites, though, all the same. (I have many OST/albums, but they're mostly anime and game soundtracks, and those can be an acquired taste. If you're game, though, just about anything done from the .hack series is good, and I've always found the sound-scape of the Escaflowne anime very good, along with the Chrono games (Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross).)

You might also have a good time trawling through the archives of Chaos Emergency Doof Broadcast Network, which also plays a fair amount of artists that you might recognize, but also more than a few who you might not, especially in the "Calibrating" sections at the beginning of each show.

(also, to the .hack series-- recognized the title immediately, because Yuki Kajiura did a a few of the albums and she never ever delivers bad OSTs. Yoko Kanno too. I've yet to try the Chrono games but the OST is really good too!)

My favorite casefic is The Very Best People by scioscribe. Stranger Things. Robin & Steve friendship. Fun!

Instrumental albums/OST: I love the Her (Original Score) by Arcade Fire. And anything Nicholas Britell has done for the score of Succession. Oooh, and I really like Black Math as well, especially their song Lapse!
